WNBC Radio 66

Long before WFAN Sports Radio and Imus, WNBC Radio 66 was a pop music station. It had heavy competition with the popular 'AM77' WABC, that featured aray of extremely popular Dee-Jays. WNBC hung-in with the music format until about the mid to late 80's. Like many AM music stations, WNBC relinquished it's musical format for 'Talk Radio'.
One remnant of the station is the album featured here. This album sponsored by WNBC Radio66 features some original bands and their pieces from the listening area. The album does not refer to any date. I suspect it was released during the 'disco' era as some of the selections have that 'disco' flare.
It's a unique album of original music and artists. It's pleasant and reminiscent of a by-gone era. Now, should any of the artists or anyone know of these artists come across this presentation, we'd love to feature an update. How was your band chosen? What came out of the album release for you? Where are you today? Feel free to comment!

the best track in my opinon is the Killer bee's , a funk disco classic that was ahead of it's time, I am a Dj in Mass and I spin classic disco and this jam ALWAYS gets a great reaction, I have been able to talk to the creator of this piece and his story is best told by him, a story of a talent not reconized by his peers, an all too familier story that we have all heard before of a talent that was missed during his time, yet we are indeed fortunate that this talent is still with us waiting to again be "discovered"

My name is Craig Dayton, and I wrote and produced Killer Bee featured on the Hometown Album II.

I wrote a long history of Killer Bee to place on this blog, but I didn't realize that I was limited to 4,096 characters, and so I had to delete it.

So...perhaps some day I will take the time to update my website with what I had originally written here, as I have saved it off, and you can read it there sometime, if you are interested.

Thank you for remembering my Killer Bee and the Hometown Album II. And, thank you to the DJ, Giovanny, for telling me about this blog and continuing to play Killer Bee for the dancers.

If you care to keep track of my career, I'm at www.craigdayton.com.

My very best wishes for happiness to each of you,

Craig
